FLPU June Newsletter

FLPU June Newsletter

Happy Pride! Happy Juneteenth! Happy Summer!
I hope everyone is enjoying the change of weather and warm days. Many of my newsletters have had a tinge of doom & gloom, so I'd like to try and keep this one focused on more positive developments. It is important to remember that life can have both happy & sad moments intermixed. Multiplicity: more than one thing can be true at the same time. We are fighting fascism, oppression, and hate, while also showing that we can be happy expressing our true selves, while showing love to all of our neighbors, and by fighting oppression in everything we do.

Happy Pride!

Showing pride in your LGBTQIA+ identity should never be limited to a month. However, we can certainly go all out in the name of Pride!

PSL is hosting FLX Pride at the Ontario County Fair on June 20th from 12-8 PM.

Anti-Tenney
Yard Signs

FLPU is partnering with Protest.Art & the FLX Justice Partnership to create/distribute Anti-Tenney yard signs ahead of the Midterm elections.
Rep. Tenney has not listened to the voice of NY-24 and has acted as a Trump Pawn. She needs to be replaced. These signs will have messages stating "Drop Tenney", "Tenney Bad For NY-24", etc. These signs are FREE, so If you're interested, let us know.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth is fast approaching and not only should we celebrate, but we should understand the history of this day. It's no secret that the FLPU spans an area of mostly white faces. It's important that FLPU represents all people, regardless of the majority. In order to meet that end, we should educate ourselves on the history we came from.
Please take some time to read on the first Juneteenth, what led to it, and what the day means for Black people in the US.

Food & Resources

As always, FLPU provides community resources, skill-sharing, and helps supply food for the region. Please take advantage of these services and consider helping out where and when you can!

FLPU always has something in the works, so if you're ever bored or curious, feel free to reach out! Also, if you know of anything happening in your community, let me know and we can share it with the FLPU network.

I want to thank the people who reached out after my last newsletter. I want you to know that your messages mean more than you could know. I've been trying to dig through all of my email, and I really appreciate you. I appreciate you all! No participation necessary :)

Stay well and talk soon,
Ben

Finger Lakes Peoples Union - Finger Lakes, New York FLPU July Newsletter The Death of the Dream The American Dream is dead. After 250 years of this experiment, which we call the United States of America, the dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is dead for the working class. The reality in which we live, work, grow, raise families, and try to eek out some slice of joy is one of extreme divides in privilege, and opportunity. Our economy is based on an underpaid and...
