Finger Lakes Peoples Union May Newsletter

May Newsletter

Hey everyone,

I'm still here. I wanted to write to you all and let you know about somethings that are happening for me, and how that will affect the FLPU going forward. This past month, I have learned I have a chronic health condition which causes immense pain and can not really be dealt with in a direct fashion. I'm not looking for a pity party, I'm telling you this because it is eating up an incredible amount of my time, resources, and energy. I have been trying to hold onto plans, and be available still, but I definitely do not have the same capacity.

That being said, the Finger Lakes Peoples Union is not going anywhere.

I'm still here in community. I'm still working on building networks of support and I'll be at the demonstrations. I have an idea for a Privacy & Security Class coming up too. The FLPU's existing projects are still going and in progress. I just have to factor this in too.

Avenues For Activism

FLPU Comrades

The FLPU has a great community of Comrades who are active in many spaces. If you are looking for a group to connect with, direction for action, or upcoming events, please check out the FLPU Comrades page to find organizations we support and work with.

This is a great way to stay connected and active, when I am unable to be available.

ICE OUT OF GENEVA

Today, Sunday, May 24th @ 6PM ET there will be a rally outside of Geneva City Hall (47 Castle St.) because many Geneva neighbors have been kidnapped and citizens are being brutally abused at Bryne Dairy by ICE. THIS MUST STOP.

80th Anniversary of the Rochester General Strike

Join us to learn the story, who were the participants, what were they fighting, how did they go about it? After a brief presentation, we'll hold brief reflections with those people leading the organizations that were central to the General Strike 80 years ago.

WHERE: Thursday, May 28th, 5:30pm
WHEN: AFSCME

66 Hall, 1956 Lyell Ave.

ZOOM OPTION AVAILABLE!

I won't let these developments stop me. Neither should you. We need to stick together and keep up the good work!

Stay well and talk soon,
Ben

Finger Lakes Peoples Union - Finger Lakes, New York FLPU July Newsletter The Death of the Dream The American Dream is dead. After 250 years of this experiment, which we call the United States of America, the dream of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is dead for the working class. The reality in which we live, work, grow, raise families, and try to eek out some slice of joy is one of extreme divides in privilege, and opportunity. Our economy is based on an underpaid and...

Finger Lakes Peoples Union - Finger Lakes New York FLPU June Newsletter Happy Pride! Happy Juneteenth! Happy Summer!I hope everyone is enjoying the change of weather and warm days. Many of my newsletters have had a tinge of doom & gloom, so I'd like to try and keep this one focused on more positive developments. It is important to remember that life can have both happy & sad moments intermixed. Multiplicity: more than one thing can be true at the same time. We are fighting fascism,...
